Vizcaino was expected to be a starter when the Yankees signed him. Not accelerated or slowed down. He appeared in 11 Dominican League games, six of which he started.

In the DSL, he has no wins. In 2017, he was promoted to the Gulf Coast League and pitched in 12 games, 11 of which he started.

Was he being tracked in a rapid or slow manner? He agreed to sign for a $14,000 incentive, putting him in the “afterthought” category

Vizcaino’s goal once he was named a starter was to educate him on how to be effective with his complete range of pitches, and not to lose a lot of stress pills because he was on a faster or slower “track” than everyone else.

To stay in the starting rotation, a pitcher should be able to throw three pitches well enough.

He’s no longer a starting pitcher candidate until the “three-pitch arsenal” issue is resolved. Ironically, as a reliever, he tracks the ball far faster than a starter.

Vizcaino was at the Yankees’ alternate facility in 2020, according to the above website. This was for the top prospects, whether or not they were on the 40-man roster.
