Adam Robert Ottavino is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently plays for the New York Mets (MLB). He formerly played for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Colorado Rockies, the New York Yankees, and the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball.



Ottavino was drafted 30th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the 2006 MLB draft out of Northeastern University. He pitched for the Swing of the Quad Cities of the Class A Midwest League that year.

In 2008, he pitched for the Springfield Cardinals of the Class AA Texas League. In 2009, Ottavino pitched for the Class AAA Pacific Coast League’s Memphis Redbirds (PCL).



In the first half of the season, he went 0–9, but in the second half, he went 7–3. Ottavino was added to the Cardinals’ 40-man roster following the 2009 season. He began the 2010 season with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Ottavino made his major league debut as a starter for the Cardinals on May 29, 2010. In 2010, he participated in five games for the Cardinals, three of which he started.

Ottavino was removed from the Cardinals’ 40-man roster following the 2010 season. He pitched for Memphis in 2011, and after the season, the Cardinals promoted him to their 40-man roster.
