Fernando “Freddy or Ferdie” Pacheco was the personal physician and cornerman for Muhammad Ali, world heavyweight champion, and other boxing champions. Freddy was born on December 8, 1927, in Tampa, Florida, and passed away on November 16, 2017, in Miami Florida at the age of 89.
Freddy attended the University of Florida and entered the Miller School of Medicine. Aside from being a cornerman, he was also an artist, author, and sports commentator. Pacheco was popularly known as The Fight Doctor due to the professional medical advice he gave to boxers.
