Max Scherzer Siblings: Meet Max Scherzer Brother, Alex Scherzer

Max Scherzer

Maxwell Martin Scherzer is a pitcher with the New York Mets of Major League Baseball in the United States (MLB).

Max has formerly played in Major League Baseball for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Scherzer is an eight-time MLB All-Star who has won three Cy Young Awards, tossed two no-hitters, and helped the Washington Nationals win the World Series in 2019.

Scherzer is the fifth pitcher to start an All-Star Game from both the American and National Leagues. He has led the league to many victories and has three strikeout titles.

With the 11th ordinary pick in the 2006 MLB draft, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected Scherzer in the first round.

Scherzer targeted hitters with a relentlessness that the Diamondbacks’ scouting director, Mike Rizzo, had never seen before.

Luke Hochevar (first usual pick), Brandon Morrow, Clayton Kershaw, and Tim Lincecum were among the eight pitchers chosen ahead of him.

Meet Max Scherzer Brother, Alex Scherzer

Alex Scherzer, Scherzer’s younger brother, committed suicide a year ago on June 21, 2012. Alex had a passion for dissecting cutting-edge baseball insights or sabermetrics.

Scherzer learned the value of sabermetrics from his brother, and he used it as a tool to improve his game. Scherzer has dedicated each starts after Alex’s death to his late brother.
