What Teams Never Won A World Series?

Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball organization and the oldest major professional sports league in the world. As of 2022, a total of 30 teams play in Major League Baseball—15 teams in the National League (NL) and 15 in the American League (AL)—with 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada.

In accordance with the Major League Baseball Constitution, the leagues are regulated. Since its inception in 1876, this document has undergone numerous revisions.

Umpire crews, marketing, labor, and television contracts are all handled by MLB under the leadership of the Commissioner of Baseball.

Minor League Baseball, like the rest of the sport, is mostly under the thumb of Major League Baseball. This is in great measure because of the United States 1922.

As a result of the Supreme Court judgment in Federal Baseball Club v. National League, the only league that has been granted such status and has not faced any competition since this case.

Substantially weakening this rule has taken place over the past few decades. Teams’ values have increased by double digits since the ruling was relaxed, giving owners additional security.

In the late 1800s, the short-lived Federal League and the abortive Continental League both attempted to form competing leagues to challenge MLB’s dominance in the sport. In 1913 and 1915, the short-lived Federal League also attempted to build a competing league.

What Teams Never Won A World Series?

Tampa Bay Rays, Colorado Rockies, Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, and San Diego Padres have never won a World Series.

Like some of the other teams on this list, the Rays have a relatively short history, yet they have made it to the World Series twice.

Their first AL championship came in 2008 when they lost to the Philadelphia Phillies after losing five games. The Dodgers beat Tampa Bay in six games to win the NL Championship in ’20.

The Rockies made the playoffs in 2017 and 2018, for the first time in their history, but failed to win a single game. Colorado has only won one postseason game since its NL-pennant-clinching win against Arizona in the storied “Rocktober” of ’07 when the Rox were swept by the Red Sox in the World Series. Since then, the Rockies have made three playoff appearances (including one in 2009 as the National League Wild Card).

A Game 163 vs Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018 would have been the Rockies’ first division championship, but they were unable to win it. Not only have the Mariners not appeared in a World Series, but they are now on a 19-year playoff drought.

Since 2010, the Rangers have made five appearances in the playoffs, but none of them have resulted in a championship for the team’s supporters.

The Brew Crew has only appeared in one World Series, falling to the Cardinals in seven games in 1982 with the “Harvey’s Wallbangers” team while playing in the American League.
