Alexander Ross Dickerson, simply called Alex Dickerson is an American born professional baseball player with the Atlanta Braves baseball team. He plays the position of left fielder and has a height of 1.88m.



Alex was born to Ross and Carol Dickerson on May 26, 1990, in Poway, California in the USA. He played high school baseball at Poway High School in Poway, California. During his senior year, he was named All-San Diego Division I Player of the Year.

After high school, the Washington Nationals selected him in the 48th round of the 2008 MLB draft but he did not sign with them and chose to attend university at the Indiana University, where he played for the Indiana Hoosiers baseball team.

In 2008, he was named the Big Ten Conference’s Freshman of the Year and received Freshman All-American honours. He also played collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2009 and 2010. Alex was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 3rd round of the 2011 MLB draft.

He signed with them for a signing bonus of $380,700 and he began his professional career with the State College Spikes. In November 2013, the Pirates traded him to the San Diego Padres. He played with the Padres till June 2019 when he was traded to the San Francisco Giants. In March 2022, Alex signed a non-guaranteed, major-league contract worth $1 million with the Atlanta Braves.
