Patrick Surtain II joined the Denver Broncos in the first round, with the ninth overall pick, of the 2021 NFL Draft. The cornerback has since exuded excellence and tenacity in the competitive sport.
Surtain II comes from the home of athletes. His dad, Patrick Surtain Sr. played 11 seasons in the National Football League as a cornerback. He was taught the basics of the game by his dad at a young age.
Surtain II went to American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida, where he played for the high school football team.
In his junior and senior years, Surtain II assisted in leading the team to back-to-back 5A state championships. During his final two years of high school football, he was chosen for the Sun Sentinel All-County First Team in Broward.
Surtain II attended the University of Alabama and played three years of college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Surtain II started 12 games as a true freshman in 2018 for Alabama, compiling 37 tackles along with an interception. In 2019, he made his way back to Alabama as one of the starting quarterbacks.
He made 42 tackles, three forced fumbles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions (returned for 24 yards), a fumble recovery, and one quarterback pressure as a sophomore in 2019.

Patrick Surtain and Michelle Surtain are the proud parents of Pat Surtain II and his siblings. Surtain Sr. Surtain played 11 seasons in the NFL. Surtain was drafted by the Dolphins in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He also played with the Chiefs. He is currently the Defensive assistant coach for the Miami Dolphins.
