He went to St. Louis, Missouri’s Lutheran High School North. He received the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Football Defensive Player of the Year award in 2017 while a senior.

He was put on injured reserve on December 17, 2021, after sitting out the first 13 games of the season. Perkins was put on injured reserve in August 2022.
