David Alan Robertson is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs in the United States.



He has formerly played for the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, and Tampa Bay Rays in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Robertson was a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team.



Robertson was selected in the 17th round of the 2006 MLB draft by the Yankees, and he made his MLB debut in 2008.

Robertson was a part of the 2009 World Series-winning Yankees club. In 2011, he was selected as an All-Star by Major League Baseball. Robertson became the Yankees’ closer in 2014 when Mariano Rivera retired.

After signing as a free agent with the White Sox after the 2014 season, he returned to the Yankees in July 2017. After the 2018 season, Robertson joined the Phillies as a free agent.

Robertson grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and attended Central-Tuscaloosa High School in Tuscaloosa for his first three years of high school. He started at shortstop and pitcher for the Falcons for two years.

Back-to-back area crowns and berths in the 6A State Playoffs were achieved with his assistance.

Central High School was divided into three smaller high schools after Robertson’s junior year, and he attended Paul W. Bryant High School in Tuscaloosa, where he graduated in 2004.

In the school’s inaugural year, he led the Stampede to an area championship and the Class 6A State Playoffs.
