Michael Patrick Rucker, simply known as Michael Rucker is an American born professional baseball player who plays the position of a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs baseball team of Major League Baseball.
Michael had his amateur baseball career at Auburn Riverside High School in Auburn, Washington, Gonzaga University and Brigham Young University (BYU), where he played baseball for the Cougars. After his junior year at BYU, the Chicago Cubs drafted him in the 11th round of the 2016 MLB draft.
He agreed to play for the Cubs and signed with them for a $180,000 signing bonus. The Cubs assigned him to play with the Arizona League Cubs that same season for him to make his professional debut. He spent the 2017 season with the South Bend Cubs and was later promoted to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans where he finished the season.
In December 2019, the Baltimore Orioles selected Michael in the 2019 Rule 5 draft but he was returned to the Cubs in March 2020. The 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic thus he did not play a minor league game that season.
