Joel Hanser Alberto Pea is a Dominican professional baseball infielder for Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB). He previously played for the Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, and Kansas City Royals in Major League Baseball.



Alberto signed with the Texas Rangers as an international free agent in November 2009, getting a $75,000 signing bonus. In 2010, he earned the batting title with the Dominican Summer Rangers of the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League.

Alberto started the 2013 season with the Class AA Texas League’s Frisco RoughRiders, but he struggled and was demoted to the Class A-Advanced Carolina League’s Myrtle Beach Pelicans.



In 2014, he returned to Frisco and was named the Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove Award winner for the best defensive shortstop in the league.


Alberto was promoted to the top leagues by the Rangers on May 28, 2015. Due to shoulder issues, Alberto only appeared in five games in 2017.

Alberto signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on December 14, 2017. During the 2018 season, he split his time between the Rangers and Round Rock.

The New York Yankees claimed Alberto from the Texas Rangers in November 2018. In January 2019, the Yankees designated him for assignment.

On March 1, he returned to the Orioles after being claimed by the San Francisco Giants. Alberto had a breakout season in 2019, hitting.283/.306/.393 with three home runs and 22 RBI.
