One of the professional baseball pitchers with the Atlanta Braves baseball team is Darren O’Day. He was born Darren Christopher O’Day to Ralph O’Day and Michal O’Day in October 1982. He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida in the USA.

He played high school baseball for Bishop Kenny High School in his hometown after which he played college baseball for the Florida Gators baseball team at the University of Florida on an athletic scholarship. Throughout his time in college, he was given recognised on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Academic Honor Roll and was also an Academic All-American during his senior year.

When he was not drafted by any team after college, he availed himself to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2006 to be signed as a free agent. The Angels signed him into their team and he began his professional baseball career. He was promoted to the major leagues in 2008 by the Angels and he made his MLB debut that year for the Angels.

In April 2009, he was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers. He played for the Rangers till he was claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles in November 2011. The Orioles traded his contract to the Atlanta Braves in 2018. He was with the Braves till the New York Yankees came and signed a one-year contract of $1.75 million with him in February 2021.

In November 2021, Darren and the Braves signed a minor league contract of $1 million for the 2022 baseball season.
