Joey Lucchesi is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres in 2018.

At Chabot College and Southeast Missouri State University, Lucchesi played baseball after graduating from Newark Memorial High School in Newark, California.

In 2015 and 2016, he was awarded the best pitcher in the Ohio Valley Conference.



He has a 2.19 earned run average in 17 games as a junior in 2016, going 10–5. (16 stars). During the 2016 MLB draft, he was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 4th round.

Tri-City Dust Devils signed and made their professional debut with Lucchesi. One-hitter against Spokane Indians was achieved on July 28 with the help of three other pitchers.

In September, he was elevated to the Fort Wayne TinCaps. With 56 strikeouts in 42 innings in 15 games between the two teams, he had a 0–2 record and a 1.29 ERA.

He pitched in 24 games (23 starts) in 2017 while pitching for the Lake Elsinore Storm and the San Antonio Missions, posting an 11-7 record, 2.20 earned run average, and a WHIP of 0.97.
