Thomas Frank La Stella is an Italian born in America who plays professional baseball as an infielder for the San Francisco Giants baseball team. Thomas was born and raised in New Jersey on January 31, 1989. His parents are Phil and Jane La Stella.

Thomas started playing baseball way back at Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey. After high school, he gained admission to attend St. John’s University, where he played college baseball for the St. John’s Red Storm baseball team. A year after playing for them, he left for Coastal Carolina University where he continued to play for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

The Atlanta Braves baseball team selected him in the eighth round of the 2011 MLB draft. He signed with them and was made to play in minor leagues.

Thomas played for the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League and the Mississippi Braves of the Class AA Southern League during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The Braves traded him in November 2014 to the Chicago Cubs. Four years after being with the Cubs, they traded him to the Los Angeles Angels in 2018. The Angels also traded him in August 2020 to the Oakland Athletics baseball team.

In February 2021, the San Francisco Giants signed Thomas to their team on a three-year contract worth $18.75 million.
