Peter Morgan Alonso, simply known in baseball as Pete Alonso and nicknamed “Polar Bear”,  plays professional baseball as a first baseman for the New York Mets baseball team. Pete is 1.91 m tall and wears the number 20 jersey for the team.

He was born on December 7, 1994, in Tampa, Florida in the USA. He grew up and had his amateur high school career in Tampa at Jesuit High School. He was a Jesuit for his first two years and transferred to Henry B. Plant High School also in Tampa where he was till he completed high school.

He played college baseball at the University of Florida, where he played for the Florida Gators as a first baseman. After his university degree and career, the New York Mets selected him in the 2nd round of the 2016 MLB draft. He signed with the Mets and received $909,200 as a signing bonus.

He made his professional debut that year with the Brooklyn Cyclones of the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League. The Mets selected him that year to participate in the league’s All-Star Game. For the 2017 minor league season, he played for the St. Lucie Mets of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League.
