Cionel Perez, full name Cionel Félix Pérez Viera is a Cuban born baseball pitcher who plays in the Major League Baseball(MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. Cionel was born on April 21, 1996, in Havana, Cuba.



Before moving to America, Cionel played two seasons for Matanzas of the Cuban National Series. In 2016, he signed a contract worth $5.15 million with the Houston Astros baseball team as an international free agent but the contract became void in October due to an issue in his physical system. In December 2016, he agreed and signed a new deal worth $2 million with the Astros.

In 2017, he made his professional debut with the Quad Cities River Bandits and he was later on promoted to the Buies Creek Astros and Corpus Christi Hooks. He was also added to the Astros 40-man roster for the 2017 season.



Cionel made his MLB debut on July 11, 2018, for the Astros. For the 2019 baseball season, he played for the GCL Astros, Fayetteville Woodpeckers, and the Round Rock Express. In 2020, Cionel made 7 appearances and recorded a 2.84 ERA with 8 strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work.

The Astros traded him in January 2021 to the Cincinnati Reds. During the latter parts of the year, the Baltimore Orioles claimed him off waivers in November 2021.
