Drew VerHagen

Drew VerHagen isn’t the same pitcher he was with the Detroit Tigers from 2014 to 2019, and it’s not because he spent two seasons in Japan working on his windup or adding an out pitch.

Because of the mental gymnastics he was put through while playing abroad for two seasons, VerHagen, a strong contender for the No. 5 spot in the Cardinals starting rotation, is a different pitcher and, more importantly, a much tougher player.
