Who Is Yennsy Díaz?

Yennsy Manuel Daz is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the New York Mets (MLB). He was a member of the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball.

On July 3, 2014, Daz was signed by the Blue Jays as an international free agent.

When he was called up to the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays for the final month of the season, he was assigned to the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League Blue Jays.

Daz has a 4–4 record, a 2.88 earned run average (ERA), and 58 strikeouts in 5613 innings of work.

For the 2016 season, he was sent to the Rookie Advanced Bluefield Blue Jays, where he went 4–6 with a 5.79 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 56 innings of work.

In 2017, Daz pitched for the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts during his first full season of professional baseball. He had a 5–2 record, a 4.79 ERA, and 82 strikeouts in 77 innings of work.

During the 2018 season, Daz was a member of Lansing before being promoted to Dunedin in late May. He had a 10–5 record, a 3.05 ERA, and 125 strikeouts in 14713 innings pitched by the time the season was over.

After the 2018 season, the Blue Jays signed Daz to a 40-man roster to keep him out of the Rule 5 draft.

The Blue Jays called up Daz to the big leagues on August 3rd. For his first start, Daz allowed two runs in just over three innings of work, on August 4. On August 5, he was flown back to New Hampshire.

Daz made one start with the 2019 Toronto Blue Jays, going 0-1 with a 27.00 ERA and no strikeouts in 0.2 innings of work.

A member of the Blue Jays’ minor league affiliate, he spent the whole 2020 campaign at the Blue Jays minor league affiliate’s alternate training location.
