Nick Wittgren Parents: Meet Andy and Lisa Wittgren

Nicholas James Wittgren (born May 29, 1991) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was previously with the Miami Marlins and the Cleveland Indians.



Wittgren was born in Torrance, California, but grew up in Lafayette, Indiana, where he was a member of the baseball, basketball, and tennis teams at McCutcheon High School. Wittgren began his collegiate baseball career at Parkland College before moving to Purdue University from 2011 to 2012.

During his two years at Purdue, he was the closer, with a 2.54 earned run average (ERA), 22 saves, and 94 strikeouts in 92 innings thrown. He played collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Hyannis Harbor Hawks in 2011.



Wittgren and his wife, Ashley, are the parents of two kids. They met in 2011 while Ashley worked for the Cape Cod Baseball League, where Wittgren was playing. Wittgren’s personal trainer during the off-season holds a master’s degree in strength and conditioning.
