Darin Cortland Ruf, simply referred to as Darin Ruf is known to be a professional baseball player who plays the position of a first baseman and an outfielder for the San Francisco Giants of the Major League Baseball(MLB).

Darin was born July 28, 1986, in Omaha, Nebraska in the United States. His parents are Bill Ruff and Mary Ruf. Darin is the second born out of four siblings. He began his amateur baseball career at Westside High School, where he helped the team win a Nebraska state championship. He was the team captain.

Upon completing high school, Darin attended Creighton University where he continued to play baseball for the University’s baseball team. In 2009, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team in the 20th round of the 2009 MLB draft. He then began playing baseball professionally from then.

He started in the minor leagues where he played for the GCL Phillies in 2009. He was promoted to the Williamsport Crosscutters of short-season A when he performed well whiles with the GCL Phillies. He made his MLB debut in September 2012 for the Philadelphia Phillies.

In January 2020, Darin signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants. In March 2022, he resigned a new two-year contract worth $6.25 million to the Giants.
