Keegan Thompson plays for the Chicago Cubs baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB). He is positioned as a pitcher and wears the number 71 jersey for the Cubs. He is 1.88 m tall.

Thompson was born March 13, 1995, to parents Jerry Thompson and Phyllis Thompson. He grew up in Cullman Alabama where he attended high school. He played high school baseball for Cullman High School. During his time there, he was named Alabama’s Gatorade Player of the Year in his junior year and senior year.

After high school, he gained admission into Auburn University where he played college baseball for the Auburn Tigers of the University. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs during the 2017 MLB draft.

He signed with the Cubs after which he received an amount of $511,900 as a signing bonus. He began his professional career by playing for the Eugene Emeralds of the minor league for the 2017 season. He spent the 2018 baseball season with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Thompson was promoted by the Cubs to the major leagues for the very first time in May 2021. He made his MLB debut for the Cubs a day after he was promoted when the Cubs played against the Cincinnati Reds.
