Michael Rucker MLB Career

A year after signing with the Eugene Emeralds, Rucker made his MLB debut with the Arizona League Cubs, going 3–0 in 12+23 bullpen innings pitched with no earned runs.

He began the year with the South Bend Cubs and was promoted to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans after seven relief appearances and a 1.42 ERA, where he became a starting pitcher.



He compiled a 5–5 record with a 2.51 ERA in 15 appearances with Myrtle Beach. Tennessee Smokies in 2018: 9–6, 3.73, 26 appearances in the bullpen.

To begin the 2019 season, he was sent back to Tennessee and later promoted to the Iowa Cubs. Rucker had a 0-3 record, a 4.18 ERA, and 93 strikeouts in 79+23 innings (mostly in relief).

The Baltimore Orioles picked Rucker in the 2019 Rule 5 draft on December 12, 2019.

The Orioles traded Rucker to the Cubs on March 6, 2020. Last year’s minor league season was canceled due to COVID-19, hence he didn’t play any games in 2020. He was sent to Iowa to begin the 2021 season

His contract was selected and he was promoted to the active roster on July 30, 2021. He pitched in relief for the Washington Nationals that night and went two innings, allowing one run and striking out one.
