Jacob Lawrence Webb (born August 15, 1993) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Arizona Diamondbacks. At Tabor College, he was a baseball player. He was selected in the 18th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves. In 2019, he debuted in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Atlanta Braves.

In his professional debut in 2014, he went 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA in 33.2 innings with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast Braves.

After Tommy John’s surgery in 2015, he missed the whole season.

He pitched for the Rookie Advanced Danville Braves and the Class A Rome Braves in 2016, going 0-1 with a 4.85 ERA in 12.1 innings.

He pitched 65 innings for the Class A Advanced Florida Fire Frogs and the Double-A Mississippi Braves in 2017, posting a 5-2 record and a 2.07 ERA. He was 3-4 with a 3.15 ERA in 53 innings split between Mississippi and the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers in 2018.

 

After the 2018 season, the Braves added him to their 40-man roster.

 

He participated in the Dominican Winter League with the Estrellas de Oriente during the 2018 offseason.

 

With the Gwinnett Stripers, he began the 2019 season. He got called up to the big leagues for the first time on April 14.

On April 16, he made his major league debut, pitching a third of an inning and striking out Ketel Marte. In a series against the Colorado Rockies, Webb recorded his first victory and save. Webb’s season was cut short in August due to elbow discomfort. In 32.1 innings pitched for the Braves in 2019, he went 4–0 with a 1.39 ERA.

 

In eight relief appearances over ten innings in 2020, he was 0–0 with a 0.00 ERA.

 

Webb accidentally hit Mets outfielder Kevin Pillar in the face with a 94 mph (151 km/h) fastball in the seventh inning on May 17, 2021, causing Pillar to suffer several nasal fractures.

 

In 34 bullpen appearances in 2021, he was 5–4 with a 4.19 ERA in 34.1 innings thrown. The Braves won the NL East with an 88-73 record and went on to win the World Series in 2021, earning them their first title since 1995. Webb started the 2022 season in spring training before being promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett in March. The Braves designated Webb for assignment on April 12, 2022. The Arizona Diamondbacks grabbed him seven days later.

The Arizona Diamondbacks claimed Webb off waivers on April 19, 2022.
