Luis Amado Garcia, a pitcher with the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball, was born in the Dominican Republic on January 30, 1987.

In 2004, at the age of 16, Garcia was initially signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization as an amateur free agent. On July 9, 2013, he received his first MLB call-up. The following day, at Citizens Bank Park, Garcia made his major league debut against the Washington Nationals.

Garcia was first signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in 2004 as an amateur free agent, and he made his professional debut for them in the Dominican Summer League in 2006.



He stayed with the Dodgers organization until 2009, when he was dealt with the Washington Nationals on August 31.

On March 25, 2013, the Phillies signed him to a minor league contract and sent him to their Advanced-A affiliate, the Clearwater Threshers. On May 8, 2014, Garcia was called up from Lehigh Valley.

He spent a number of stints with the Phillies that season, playing in a total of 13 games. Garcia had solid spring training and was added to the Phillies’ Opening Day roster in 2015.

Garcia signed a two-year deal with the San Diego Padres on December 1, 2021. He has previously played for the Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Phillies, Los Angeles Angels, and Philadelphia Phillies.
