Donny Sands (born May 16, 1996) is a professional baseball catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Sands was born in Tucson, Arizona, and grew up there until the third grade. His family relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he worked as a batboy for the New Mexico Lobos.
Sands and his mother returned to Tucson after his father died in 2012. He spent two years at Empire High School before transferring to Salpointe Catholic High School.
Sands was chosen by the New York Yankees in the eighth round (243rd overall) in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.
Though Sands had committed to attend the University of New Mexico, he signed with the Yankees, receiving a $100,000 signing bonus. He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Yankees.
After his first season, the Yankees switched Sands from a third baseman to a catcher. In 2017, he played for the Charleston RiverDogs. He began the 2021 season with the Somerset Patriots, and was promoted to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders during the season.
The Yankees added Sands to their 40-man roster after the season. The Yankees traded Sands and Nick Nelson to the Philadelphia Phillies for T. J. Rumfield and Joel Valdez on November 19, 2021.
Unfortunately, there is no information indicating that Donny Sands has a girlfriend, he has always strived to keep his personal life away from the media.
