Alexander Miller Cobb (born October 7, 1987), better known by his nickname Swan, is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants.

He was picked in the fourth round of the 2006 MLB draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, and he made his MLB debut in 2011.

From 2011 to 2017, he was a member of the Rays, the Baltimore Orioles from 2018 to 2020, and the Los Angeles Angels in 2021.

Cobb proposed to his girlfriend, Kelly Reynolds, at the Discovery Cove in Orlando in February 2014. They have two girls together and have been married since 2016.

Cobb’s brother, R. J., is a Purple Heart recipient who served in the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan. R. J. is four years Alex’s senior. When he was a senior in high school, their mother, a nurse practitioner, died in December 2005 at the age of 49 after a stroke.

Cobb throws four pitches: a sinker (his most-used pitch in 2021), a four-seam fastball (his second-most-used pitch in 2021), a splitter in the upper 80s, and a knuckle-curve in the low 80s. In 2021, splitters accounted for over half of his deliveries with two strikes.
