Joely Rodríguez Sánchez plays professional baseball for the New York Mets baseball team. He has been with the Mets since April 2022. He was born and raised in the Dominican Republic on November 14, 1991. He had his amateur baseball career in his country.
Joely made his professional debut in 2009 with the DSL Pirates when he was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He received $55,000 as a signing bonus. He spent the 2010 season playing for both the GCL Pirates and the State College Spikes. He was with the State College Spikes during the 2011 and 2012 minor league seasons.
The Pirates added him to their 40-man roster in 2013. He spent the 2014 season with the Altoona Curve before he was traded in December that same year to the Philadelphia Phillies. He began playing for the Phillies during the 2015 season where he was assigned to play between the Reading Fightin Phils and Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.
He also spent the 2016 minor league season playing for the Clearwater Threshers, Reading, and Lehigh Valley. He made his MLB debut on September 11, 2016, for the Phillies. In November 2017, he signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles.
