American professional baseball infielder with the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball, Alan Ray Trejo (born May 30, 1996) was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 16th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball amateur draft, and he made his team debut in 2021.
From San Diego State University, Trejo was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 16th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. Trejo spent 2017 playing for the Grand Junction Rockies in the rookie league, batting.347/.388/.566 with 7 home runs and 32 RBI.
The next season, he played for the Lancaster JetHawks of the advanced Single-A level, hitting.278/.329/.425 with 10 home runs and a career-high 67 RBI.
Trejo played 125 games with the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats in 2019, hitting.243/.290/.391 with 15 home runs and 39 RBI.
Owing to the cancellation of the 2020 Minor League Baseball season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Trejo did not participate in any games in 2020.
He was included in the Rockies’ 60-player roster for the 2020 campaign. Despite being invited to Spring Training for the 2021 season, he was sent to Triple-A to start the season after failing to make the squad.
Trejo was initially promoted to the major leagues on April 10, 2021, after being added to the 40-man roster. He entered the game as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and had one at-bat before floating out to Mauricio Dubón, making his MLB debut that day.
Prior to Friday’s game against the Padres, Trejo was returned to Colorado. With Garrett Hampson on the COVID-19 disabled list, the 26-year-old infielder gives the Rockies some extra bench versatility.
