Tyler Thornburg is a professional baseball player who plays in the position of a pitcher for the Atlanta Braves baseball team. He has been with the Braves since March 2022. Growing up, Tyler played in little league baseball for the Sandy Springs All-stars. He played as an outfielder and led his team to win the Georgia state championship.
Tyler had his education and amateur career at Riverwood High School in Sandy Springs, Georgia and at Charleston Southern University, where he played college baseball for the Buccaneers. Tyler also pitched in collegiate summer baseball for the Winchester Royals of the Valley Baseball League in Virginia in 2008 and played for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2009.
During the 2010 MLB draft, he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 3rd round of the draft. He signed with the Brewers and began his professional debut that same year with the Helena Brewers in the Rookie-level Pioneer League.
Tyler made his MLB debut for the Brewers in June 2012. He was traded in December 2016 to the Boston Red Sox and in December 2019, he signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds. The contract included an invitation to Spring Training.
