Mychal Antonio Givens happens to be one of the professional baseball pitchers in the Major League Baseball who plays for the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Mychal was born in Florida on May 13, 1990, and was raised by his grandparents.



Mychal was a baseball player when he was a student at Henry B. Plant High School located in Tampa, Florida in the United States of America. He used to play either as a pitcher or an infielder. He was named All-State star throughout his playing years in high school.

In 2007, while still in high school, he was part of those selected to play for the USA 18-and-under national baseball team. He was also selected to play for the Aflac All-American High School Baseball Game in 2008.



When Mychal completed high school, he had wanted to go play college baseball at the Oklahoma State University but he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the second round of the 2009 MLB draft. He decided to sign with the Orioles instead of going to college.

Mychal received a signing bonus of $800,000 for agreeing to play for the Orioles and began his professional career. He was promoted by the Orioles to the major leagues in June 2015. He made his MLB debut on June 24 for the Orioles.

In August 2020, the Orioles traded Mychal to the Colorado Rockies who in turn traded him in July 2021 to the Cincinnati Reds. In March 2022, the Chicago Cubs signed a one-year contract with him.
