T. J. Edwards plays football professionally for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He stands 1.85 m tall and weighs 110 kg. He played football in high school at Lakes Community High School. Right after high school, he chose to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison to play for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Prior to playing all 13 games as a redshirt freshman in 2015, he redshirted as a true freshman in 2014. Edwards was not selected by any team in the 2019 NFL Draft, therefore he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in May of that year. He was placed on injured reserve in October 2020 after sustaining a hamstring injury.
With the Eagles trailing 18-13 against the Carolina Panthers in the fourth quarter of their Week 5 game, he made a crucial play by blocking a punt. Because of Edwards’ efforts, the Eagles won that week, and the NFC recognized him Special Teams Player of the Week as a result. After his stellar performance in the Eagles’ Week 11 match, which included an interception and a fumble recovery, the team decided to sign him to a one-year extension worth $3.2 million.
