Cory James Abbott (born September 20, 1995) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Chicago Cubs (MLB).



In San Diego, California, Abbott attended Junipero Serra High School. He finished 7–2 with a 1.52 ERA as a senior. After being undrafted in the 2014 MLB draft out of high school, he enrolled in Loyola Marymount University and played collegiate baseball there.

After the season, he was selected in the second round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Chicago Cubs.



Abbott signed with the Cubs and spent his first professional season with the Eugene Emeralds, pitching 14 innings for a 3.86 ERA. He pitched for the South Bend Cubs and Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2018, going 8–6 with a 2.50 ERA in 22 starts for both teams, and the Tennessee Smokies in 2019, going 8–8 with a 3.01 ERA in 26 starts, striking out 166 batters in 146+23 innings.
