Mykal Walker Contract, Salary and Net Worth

Mykal Walker is one player that will almost surely be retained by the Falcons, despite the fact that the linebacker position is on the verge of being completely gutted by the Falcons.

Walker was given a spot in the rotation for his first year in the NFL after being selected as the penultimate fourth-round choice of the DQ/TD system in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He turned up a remarkable performance while playing in only a restricted number of snaps, which led to elevated expectations for his second season.

Walker participated in fewer than 200 snaps as a reserve during the 2021 season. This suggests that a shift in strategy implemented by Dean Pees may have hampered his growth to some degree.

Walker’s limited playing time in 2020 was promising, especially in coverage when he limited opposition quarterbacks to a 77.6 passer rating and recorded a pick-six.

As a tackler, he did experience some setbacks, as seen by a disheartening missed tackle percentage of 12.5%. (MTR).

But taking into account that he had a remarkably low MTR in his rookie season (4.3%) despite playing almost twice as many snaps, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that 2021 will be an anomaly.

Going into the summer, we have great expectations for the young linebacker once again. At least, in theory, Walker should be a good fit for the 3-4 defense.

His knowledge of coverage, in addition to his experience playing off the ball and on the line of scrimmage, should make him a well-rounded piece that Dean Pees can utilize in a variety of innovative ways.
