Johan Camargo plays as a Third baseman

In baseball or softball, a third baseman (abbreviated 3B) is the player whose job it is to defend the area closest to the third base, which is the third of four bases a baserunner must touch in order to score a run.

The number ‘5’ is assigned to the third baseman in the scoring system used to record defensive plays.

Camargo’s playing time improved in June when third baseman Adonis Garcia was placed on the disabled list after two brief appearances in the major leagues.

Camargo hit his first professional home run on July 9 against Matt Grace of the Washington Nationals.

Camargo lost playing time once Adonis Garcia returned from the disabled list at third base; however, he immediately regained it when the Braves benched Dansby Swanson, who was subsequently demoted to Triple-A.

Camargo was hurt in August and stayed with the Gwinnett Braves until September, which allowed Swanson to return.

Camargo was named the Braves’ starting third baseman in May 2018 and held the position until the team signed Josh Donaldson for the 2019 season.

Camargo filled in for starting shortstop Dansby Swanson after Swanson’s injury, but he struggled defensively and offensively.

As a result, on August 16, Camargo was demoted to the Gwinnett Stripers. When rosters were increased in September, Camargo was able to return to the major leagues.
