Julio Urías is a Mexican born baseball pitcher born and raised in Culiacán, Mexico on August 12, 1996, to Carlos Urias And Juana Isabell Urias. He currently plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB).



As a teenager, he played for the Mexico national youth baseball team. The Dodgers signed him in 2012 after they met him at a showcase in Oaxaca, Mexico that year.

The Dodgers signed him after paying a fee of $450,000 to both Julio and his team in Mexico, that is the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican League.



Julio then began his professional career after relocating to America to play for the Dodgers. He made his professional debut in 2013 for the Great Lakes Loons in the Midwest League. The following year, he was selected to play for the World Team at the 2014 All-Star Futures Game.

The Dodgers named him the “Minor League Pitcher of the Year” in 2014. In May 2016, the Dodgers promoted him to the major leagues for the first time and he made his MLB debut that day when the Dodgers played against the New York Mets.
