He was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 29th round of the 2009 draft, although he never signed with the team.

Dickerson was selected by the Rockies in the 2010 Major League Baseball draft in the eighth round.



While playing for Casper in 2010, he hit .348 (6th in the PCL)/.412 (8th in the league)/.632 (leading the league) in 276 at-bats while driving in 61 RBIs (tied for the league lead).

He also had 22 doubles (2nd), 9 triples (2nd), 13 home runs (3rd), and 9 stolen bases (3rd).

He was named Pioneer League Player of the Week on September 6, 2010.

A Pioneer League All-Star, a MiLB Organization All-Star, and a TOPPS Short Season/Rookie All-Star were among the honors he received in 2010.

With the Class A South Atlantic League Asheville Tourists, Dickerson hit three home runs on June 3, 2011.

It tied the South Atlantic League record for most RBIs in a single game, which had stood for 33 years. He was named SAL Player of the Week on July 11, 2011.

He had an excellent year in which he hit .282/.356/.629 with 78 runs, 5 triples, 32 home runs, and 87 RBI for Asheville in 383 at bats and was an All-Star in the MiLB Organization.

When it came to home runs, he was ranked fourth in the minors in 2011.

While playing for the Modesto Nuts of the California League in 2012, Dickerson was a member of two Class AA Texas League teams.

In 506 at-bats, he hit .304/.358/.542, totaling 22 home runs and 81 RBIs. He was selected to the California League’s All-Star team at the midpoint of the season.

Afterward, he played in the Arizona Fall League, where, in just 66 at-bats, he hit .364/.368/.515 and was dubbed a Rising Star.
