Brandon was born on June 3, 1994, in Houston, Texas in the USA. He played baseball for the Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas Houston, Texas where he was also a student. He attended the University of Virginia where he played college baseball for the Virginia Cavaliers baseball team.
In 2015, the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted him in the 5th round of the 2015 MLB draft. He with the Pirates and received a signing bonus of $315,000. He made his professional debut that year playing with the West Virginia Black Bears of the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League.
Brandon was assigned to play with the Bradenton Marauders of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League in 2016.
