Gray was born on April 30, 1999. After spending his college football career at Duke University, the Chiefs selected him in the fifth round of the NFL Draft in 2021.

During that same year, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl. Ryan Gray, the current quarterback for the Duke University football team, was named to the first team while he was a senior in high school in Massachusetts.

When he first joined the team as a freshman, he was assigned to play wide receiver; but, by the time he was a sophomore, he had moved up to the position of starting quarterback for the team.

He made adjustments to wide receivers as a junior and continued to play quarterback while completing 101 of 179 passes for 1,707 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Gray decided to attend Duke University after being offered admission there rather than Temple or Appalachian State.

Gray had a total of five receptions as a freshman, which he brought in for a total of 37 yards, and he scored two touchdowns during that season.

While he was a sophomore at Duke, he played in all 13 of the school’s football games and finished the season with 20 receptions, 234 yards and one touchdown.

During his junior year, Gray had 51 receptions for 392 yards and three touchdowns, which resulted in him being named to the second-team All-ACC and the second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

These honors were awarded to Gray because of his performance during his junior year. When Gray first began his senior season,

he was widely considered to be one of the most promising tight end prospects for the NFL Draft in 2021. Additionally, he was considered for the Mackey Award, which was being given out.
