Jacob Anthony deGrom (born June 19, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). DeGrom attended Stetson University and played collegiate baseball for the Stetson Hatters before turning professional.

DeGrom started out as a shortstop before switching to the pitcher during his junior year at Stetson. He was drafted in the ninth round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Mets, and he made his MLB debut on May 15, 2014.

DeGrom was voted Rookie of the Month twice and Rookie of the Year in the National League (NL) that year. DeGrom was named to the MLB All-Star team in 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2021. DeGrom led the National League in ERA and earned the Cy Young Award in 2018.

For the second year in a row, he led the National League in strikeouts and earned the Cy Young Award. In 2020, he topped the National League in strikeouts once more. DeGrom is largely recognized as baseball’s top pitcher right now.

DeGrom was chosen as the finest professional athlete in New York City throughout the 2010s by the New York Post in 2019.
