He attended the University of Tennessee at Martin after graduation before transferring to Dyersburg State Community College at the end of the fall semester.



During his 2018 season at Dyersburg State, he went 7–3 with a 3.64 ERA in 12 starts. He was drafted in the 23rd round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves after the season ended.

Woods signed with Atlanta and pitched for the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Braves, going 0–1 with a 6.10 ERA in 20+23 innings.

Woods finished 1–5 with a 3.35 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 51 innings pitched for the Rome Braves of the Class A South Atlantic League in 2019.

Due to the termination of the season due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Woods did not play a minor league game in 2020. Due to an elbow injury, he only played in five games for the Mississippi Braves in 2021.

The Braves picked his contract and added him to the 40-man roster on November 18, 2021. Mississippi was his first team in the 2022 season.

Woods was promoted to the Gwinnett Stripers after three outings. Woods got promoted to the main leagues on April 26, 2022.

The next day, he made his MLB debut against the Chicago Cubs, pitching a scoreless inning with one walk and one strikeout.
