Jacob Anthony deGrom is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the New York Mets. The Mets selected him in the ninth round of the MLB draft in 2010.

He debuted with the Mets on May 15, 2014, and has since won the National League Rookie of the Year and Cy Young Award several times.

Calvary Christian Academy in Ormond Beach, Florida, named Jacob deGrom an All-State athlete and pitcher in 2013.

The Florida Athletic Coaches Association named him the District 9 Class 1A player of the year as a high school basketball player.

He was also a member of the Stetson Hatters collegiate baseball team thanks to his time in the American Legion.

Following his failure to get picked in the MLB draft as a high school pitcher, he began his collegiate baseball career.

With an AT&T lineman and credit card rewards program salesperson as parents, his upbringing was in DeLeon Springs, Florida.

He and his wife, Stacey, became parents to a son and a girl in April 2016 and February 2018. It was during the 2017-18 offseason that he chopped his hair, claiming that it would speed up his fastball and that he was bored of having long hair.
