Major League Baseball team the Toronto Blue Jays have signed South Korean professional baseball pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu. Ryu currently plays for the Blue Jays.
His past teams in Major League Baseball include the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Hanwha Eagles of the KBO League. After playing for the Eagles for seven years,
he made history in 2013 by becoming the first player from the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) to join an MLB team via the posting system. Ryu made history by being the first Korean pitcher to start a game in the World Series.
In 2019, Ryu was selected to participate in the All-Star Game of Major League Baseball for the very first time in his career. During that season, he led the Major Leagues in earned run averages.
