When he was with the Trenton Thunder in 2016, he hit eight home runs and had 43 RBI in 56 games, with a slash line of .289/.411/.479 (including eight home runs, 43 RBI, and 41 walks).

Ford was selected by the Mariners in the 2017 Rule 5 draft from the Yankees.

On March 24, they sent him back to the Yankees. He played in 126 games for Trenton and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2017 when he slugged a combined .270/.404/.471 with 20 home runs and 86 RBIs while walking 76 times and striking out only 56 times.
