Manuel Rodriguez, full name Manuel De Jesus Rodríguez is a professional baseball player from Mexico who currently pitches for the Chicago Cubs baseball team in the Major League Baseball.



Manuel was born on August 6, 1996, in a town called Mérida in Mexico. He lived almost his life there and had his amateur baseball career, both high school and college in Mexico.

Manuel made his professional debut in 2014 for the Mexican League by playing with the Leones de Yucatán. In 2015, he was named the 2015 Mexican League Rookie of the Year. Manuel was with the Leones de Yucatán till 2016 when he was traded to the Chicago Cubs in July.



He was then assigned to play for the Eugene Emeralds and the South Bend Cubs of the minor league baseball in 2017. For the 2018 and 2019 seasons, he spent it with the South Bend and Beach Pelicans.

The Cubs added Manuel to their 40-man roster after the 2019 season and he began the 2021 season playing with the Tennessee Smokies and the Iowa Cubs. He was selected by the Cubs in June 2021 to play in the All-Star Futures Game.

Manuel was promoted to the major leagues on July 30, 2021. He made his MLB debut that night for the Cubs.
