Jakob Benjamin Lee Junis (born September 16, 1992) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the San Francisco Giants.

He was selected in the 29th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft by the Kansas City Royals, with whom he made his MLB debut in 2017.

Junis made his professional debut in 2012 with the Burlington Royals, pitching in seven games and going 2–2 with a 4.15 ERA (six starts). In 13 starts with the Idaho Falls Chukars in 2013, he was 2–6 with a 7.39 ERA and was eighth in the Pioneer League with 55 strikeouts.



Junis pitched for the Royals in 16 games (six starts) in 2021, compiling a 5.26 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 39.1 innings of work. He also spent time on the disabled list twice. He spent two seasons on the injured list. He was paid $1.7 million each year.

Junis was outrighted from the 40-man roster on November 5, 2021, but he declined the assignment and chose free agency.

Junis signed a one-year $1.75 million contract with the San Francisco Giants on March 14, 2022.
