Jacob Hubert Reed is a Major League Baseball pitcher who now pitches for the New York Mets.

He formerly played for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball. He was a member of the Oregon Ducks baseball team in college.

Reed was a pitcher on the baseball squad and a quarterback for the American football team at Helix High School in La Mesa, California.

Reed won the Grossmont South League Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore, posting a 5–4 record with a 1.54 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 65+23 innings pitched.

Reed was taken in the 40th round (1,221st overall) of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox after graduating in 2011. He chose to go to college rather than join the White Sox.

Reed signed up to play college baseball for the University of Oregon Ducks. Reed set a Ducks rookie record for most innings pitched in a season while pitching as a freshman.

Reed was converted to a relief pitcher by the Ducks during his junior season. Reed had a 4–1 record, a 1.93 ERA, and 13 saves in 13 appearances as the Ducks’ closer.

He earned a spot on the first team of the Pac-12 Conference.
