Butto is a Venezuelan outfielder who joined the Mets on June 2, 2017. He is the Rumble Ponies’ fourth player to garner MiLB honors this season.

After starting 2021 at High-A Brooklyn, the 6-foot-1 right-hander improved his numbers to 3.12 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings at Double-A Binghamton.

When he first became eligible in November, his performance helped him gain Rule 5 Draft protection.

Since entering Binghamton on July 19, Butto is 3-0 with a 1.86 ERA in five starts, and he hasn’t allowed a run in his previous 20 innings.

Butto allowed just two hits in six innings against Hartford on Saturday, walking one batter and striking out eight. In each of his last three starts, he’s pitched six scoreless innings.

He’s only walked two hitters while striking out 20 in that time.
