Konnor Chase Pilkington is an American professional baseball pitcher who was born on September 12, 1997, and plays for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball.
Pilkington stayed at Moss Point and attended Mississippi’s East Central High School. He had a 307-strikeout total during his high school career, a 25-7 win-loss record, a 1.70 earned run average (ERA) and helped opponents hit just.144.
He made his commitment to play college baseball at Mississippi State University in June 2014 when he was 16 years old.
In 2018, Pilkington was recognized as a junior by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA, and Perfect Game as a member of the Preseason All-American Second Team and by D1 Baseball as a member of the Preseason All-American Third Team.
Pilkington started for MSU on Friday night. In 18 starts, he concluded the 2018 campaign with a 3-6 record and a 4.47 ERA.
In the third round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft, the Chicago White Sox picked Pilkington, who signed a contract worth $650,000.
He made his professional debut with the Rookie-level Arizona League White Sox before being moved up to the Rookie Advanced Pioneer League’s Great Falls Voyagers.
The White Sox traded Pilkington to the Cleveland Indians on July 29, 2021, in exchange for César Hernández. Pilkington was given to the Double-A Northeast Akron RubberDucks by the Indians after they acquired him.
Pilkington was selected to join the Cleveland Guardians, the team’s new name, the 40-man roster on November 19, 2021. The Guardians started on April 2, 2022, that he has been included in the Opening Day roster.
