Darien A. Nuez is a Major League Baseball pitcher from Cuba who currently pitches for the Los Angeles Dodgers.



In the 2009 World Youth Baseball Championship and the 2013 World Baseball Classic, Nuez pitched for the Cuban National Team.

From 2011 through 2015, Nuez pitched in the Cuban National Series, posting a 19–27 record and a 4.00 ERA.



In 2015, he requested his release in order to play professional baseball lawfully. He was regarded as one of the top three pitchers in the Cuban league at the time of his release.

On April 16, 2018, the Los Angeles Dodgers signed him as an international free agent.

In his professional debut season in 2018, he appeared in 21 games for the Dominican Summer League Dodgers, the Arizona League Dodgers, the rookie-level Ogden Raptors, and the Single-A Great Lakes Loons, compiling a 2.23 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 36+13 innings

while pitching for the Dominican Summer League Dodgers, the AZL Dodgers, the rookie-level Ogden Raptors, and the Single-A Great Lakes Loon.

He spent most of the season with the High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League, where he posted a 1.75 ERA in 25+2/3 innings while striking out 43 batters.

The cancellation of the minor league season owing to the COVID-19 epidemic resulted in Nuez not appearing in a single game in the year 2020.
