Johan Oviedo (born March 2, 1998) is a Cuban professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB).



On July 2, 2016, Oviedo signed a free agent contract with the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent and was assigned to the DSL Cardinals. In 2017, he spent his time between the Johnson City Cardinals and the State College Spikes.

In 2018, he was promoted to the Peoria Chiefs, where he would spend the season before joining the Springfield Cardinals for the 2019 season.



Oviedo was originally assigned to the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds to begin the 2020 season, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Minor League Baseball did not have a season and Oviedo was added to the newly constructed 60-man player pool.

Oviedo was named to the active roster on August 19, 2020, and he made his Major League Baseball debut the following day.

In five starts with the Cardinals, he was 0-3 with a 5.47 ERA while striking out 16 batters over 24+2/3 innings.
